Hyderabad:-
- Founded in 1724 by Asaf Jahan Nizam-ul-Mulk.
- During the period of Muhammad Shah, he was serving as a military commander.
- He helped Muhammad Shah and killed Sayyad Brothers.
- He was rewarded as Nizam of Deccan.
- Very soon he declared himself as a ruler of separate Regional power with Mughal Sovereignty.
- He was contemporary of Peshwa Baji Rao I.
- IN 1748 Nizam died and after him a war of succession began in Hyderabad.
- War of Succession began between Nasir Jung (Son of Nizam) (got favour from BEIC) and Muzaffar Jung (Grandson of Nizam) (got favour from French).
- For the first time, the European Companies interfered in the internal matter of the Indian rulers.
- From here onwards India became the battle ground for these European Companies to become most powerful and supreme in India.
Independent State:-
(1) Rajputana
(2) Kerela
(3) Mysore
(1) Rajputana:-

(2) Kerela:-
Travancore
Location:- Southern most part of Kerela (Malabar Coast).
Travancore was the state who did not believe in territorial expansion. It believed in Advancement and Development of Education, Health, Skills, Transportation, Scholarships and Research etc.
The state also promoted Art & Culture.
The most powerful and popular ruler of Kerela was “Raja Martanda Verma”. He came to be known as “Dharma Raja Ram Vema”.
He made the Travancore state as a centre of human development and Trivantapuram was the capital of Scholars/Scholarships.
(3) Mysore:-
- Location:- Southern Deccan (Karnataka + some part of TN & Kerela) and South India.
- Rule:- Earlier it was a Hindu state and ruled by Wadiyar Dynasty.
- Ruler:- Ruler was Immadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar.
- During his period, a soldier Haider Ali increased his power and became military head in a very short period. He was suspiciously supervised by the minister “Nanjaraj”.
- Haider Ali considered him as danger for his growth and he decided to sideline him.
- In 1761, he took the control of Mysore and the King became a puppet ruler for next five years.
- Haider Ali declared himself as an Independent Sultan in 1766.
- He was succeeded by “Tipu Sultan”.
- Mysore became a strong power in South India.
- The rulers developed and trained their military in European standards.
- They were supported by the French Company.
- This alliance of Mysore and French Company aggetated BEIC and afterward Hyderabad, Mysore became the battleground for these two European companies.
